Kaloogian Claims Fundraising Nears $400,000

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 9:56 pm

Republican Howard Kaloogian’s campaign for Congress has sent out emails to San Diego voters the past 2 days, asking for them to help his campaign fundraising.  Kaloogian claims he has raised approximately $400,000 which would represent a significant jump from the last report his campaign filed and allow him to stay competitive with the other top-tier candidates.

"Our conservative Republican campaign for Congress has an extremely important deadline coming up.

By midnight this Wednesday, March 22nd we must raise a final $5,000 to put us over the top for $400,000 raised.

This deadline is crucial because it marks the cutoff for the final reporting period before the April 11th Special Election."

Bilbray’s Endorsements

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 9:50 pm

This blog has missed posting a number of news tidbits, not the least of which has been the endorsement of Republican Brian Bilbray’s campaign for Congress by the Union-Tribune and the endorsement of the San Diego Police Officers Association.

Bilbray supporters had written this blog several times about publishing these developments.  They are significant, and so I wanted to get the word out, albeit late.

Uke Earns Slater-Price Endorsement: Insists He’s Not Pulling Plug on $

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 9:38 pm

Barry Jantz of the Flash Report broke the news from the Uke campaign that Alan Uke has earned the endorsement of Supervisor Pam Slater-Prince, certainly one of the most respected moderate Republicans in San Diego County.

As of yesterday the media representatives who confirmed the rumor that Uke was selling his ad time said he still was.  This blog has tried to find out if this is still the case today but have gotten no response yet.

The Slater-Price endorsement is a big blow to Brian Bilbray’s campaign which had to hope that with the reports of Uke pulling the plug on his funding that Bilbray could unify the moderate vote.

A person posted a comment to this blog several days ago that Uke was possibly conducting a poll testing out a pro-choice message.

Might Uke be thinking of changing gears from his "Conservative Republican for Congress" message and instead relaunching a campaign as a pro-choice moderate Republican backed by Pam Slater-Price?

This would be interesting.  Roach has taken the spot Uke would have liked to have occupied with the big-spending "conservative Republican for Congress message."  Kaloogian has topped Morrow in the latest polls in terms of attracting the activist base support.

So with little room to run on the right, might Uke now be going after the pool of more moderate GOPers who Bilbray has pretty much had all to himself?

Interesting to see.
