Kaloogian and Boyer Glad Immigration Plan is Dead

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 8:38 pm

Republican contenders for Congress, Howard Kaloogian and Bill Boyer, have both expressed their satisfaction with news that the immigration reform plan in the U.S. Senate had been defeated.

Yesterday Kaloogian issued an aggressive one-page press release that ripped what he called "another amnesty plan" as being "more of the same" and a repeat of the 1986 amnesty bill passed by the U.S. Senate.

  1. Yes, I am very glad the Senate was unable to drive that bill acroos the finish line. Clearly, it was an attempt to go home for Easter and have talking points such as “together we were able to xyz”.

We need to separate the issues of Border Intgrity from Immigration Reform.

Think of it this way…imagine you are on a large boat and the boat has a major leak in the hull. It seems the congress wants to sit onthe deck and debate the various dangers of the water pouring in, argue various bailing methods and tried to agree on the idea that the water wasn’t that bad.

I on the other hand want to send a couple able seaman, welders and tradesman down to fix the hole. Then we can have the discussion about what to do with the 12 million gallons already aboard.

Having Border Integrity is a basic and simple issue to address. 88% of the public want it handled…sounds like a mandate to me.

Immigration reform is an issue that needs to be tackled with pragmatism and thoughtfulness and may take longer. Remember we have had major discussion on this vary issue many times 1798, 1875, 1908, and 1997 etc.

If any elected official carried 88% of the vote,..he or she would stand at the podium and declare a mandate (others have done that with far fewer votes). So, my question is…where is the real action on OUR MANDATE?
