McCain Criticizes Busby

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 8:35 pm

U.S. Senator John McCain wants voters to know that he doesn’t appreciate Ms. Busby’s use of his name in her campaign advertising.  Here’s the statement issued by McCain:

“I want the people of California’s 50th Congressional District to know that, contrary to her suggestions, I do not support Francine Busby. There are many well qualified Republicans running in the special election. They have my support, not Ms. Busby.”

  1. How long will it be before Howard Kaloogian claims this as an endorsement from Senator McCain???

  2. McCain is being unnecessarily partisan and negative to Busby. Busby has never insinuated that she had McCain’s support — quite the opposite, actually. She only publically supported McCain’s immigration reform bill.

McCain’s running to the right to prepare for 2008. Even though he’s long been considered a “maverick” moderate willing to work with Democrats in the spirit of bipartisanship, he can’t tolerate having a Democrat actually mention his name in a conservative district.

If McCain thinks there are qualified Republicans in this race, why not name one? He cannot possible think that they’re all on equal footing.

He’ll lose in 2008 for the same reason Gore lost in 2000 — he’s paying too much attention to his campaign consultants and not enough to his own common sense and decency.
