Fleischman tough on Bilbray
Brian Bilbray seems to have rankled a number of conservative Republicans.
First there were those anti-Bilbray attack pieces by the California Republican Assembly organization. Abramoff and Metabolife deaths and all that.
Then a former right-wing San Diego assemblyman named Steve Baldwin said he didn’t much like Bilbray because Bilbray was a liberal Republican who supported a Democrat over Republican Baldwin in a race for a state legislative seat.
At first Bilbray denied that charge, but then later told Roger Hedgecock that in fact he did support a Democrat over Baldwin because it was in San Diego’s best interests.
Now Flash Report blog honcho, Jon Fleischman, has written a blog entry that is ruthless against Bilbray. His message: vote for any Republican so long as it isn’t Brian Bilbray.

This has become a two-man race on the Republican side and it should not surprise anyone that one is a conservative and the other is a liberal!
As usual, the voters will figure this one out just in time!

I was just wondering if SDPolitics gets a check every time it mentions the FlashReport.

Give me a break Bilbray is not a liberal. When you check people’s voting records (V.E.Roach wouldn’t be too familiar with what that is) you will see the most “liberal” Republican is no where near the most “conservative” Democrat. Lets keep it real. Brian is the only candidate that can truly represent the ENTIRE district not just a small special interest.

Bilbray is liberal on abortion and gay adoption and in fact was one of only 3 Republicans in the house to side with the democrats on the gay adoption issue–and it passed because of him.

IF FEAR OF THE LIBERAL MACHINE IS THE MOTIVE THEN BILBRAY IS THE CLEAR CHOICE BECAUSE HE SUCKS THE LIBERAL WAR CHEST DRY EVERY TIME HE RUNS —
THE PRO CHOICE AND PRO GAY PAC’S SPENT MORE TO DEFEAT BILBRAY IN 1996-..1998 AND 2000 THAN IN ANY CONGRESSIONAL RACE IN HISTORY—AND THAT IS NOT AN OVERSTATEMENT -ITS FACT.–
THE SILENCE OF UNREBUTTED ATTACKS UPON BILBRAYS REPUBLICAN CREDENTIALS BY THE LOCAL GOP HAS GIVEN THEM CREDIABILITY —IT BE A INDICATION OF LOCAL LEADERSHIPS’ STATEWIDE AMBITIONS.. THAT REQUIRE SUPPORT FROM THE FAR-CHRISTIAN RIGHT.—–THIS IS ALL THAT CAN EXPLAIN THE PAUCITY OF ANY REAL LEADERSHIP IN THIS RACE,
THE OBVIOUS CHOICE BECOMES LESS OBVIOUS AS TIME GOES BY—BILBRAY WAS SO OBVIOUS UP FRONT THAT THE SLIGHTEST LEADERSHIP AT THAT TIME, WOULD HAVE KEPT THE NUMBER OF CANDIDATES AT LEAST DOWN TO THE SIZE OF A LIBERTARIAN CONVENTION—BUT OF COURSE THE CONSULTING INDUSTRY WOULD HAVE HAD A FIT SEEING THE LOSS OF ALL THOSE MILLIONS –HUH??–

Bilbray is more of a Goldwater conservative than a socialist liberal. He is one to support less government rather than the “Big Government” conservative that Cunningham, Delay, and Bush have brought us. But I am sure some of you will try to rationalize Bush’s efforts to build up the federal government.
