Bill Horn’s Office: Outside the District?

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 7:11 pm

5th district supervisorial candidate, Bill Horn, has already been in hot water over a house he owns but let’s his good woman friend & Chief of Staff, Joan Wonsley, live in.

Now, Horn’s opponents are criticizing him for coordinating his campaign from an office outside of the 5th Supervisorial District.

On his website, Horn encourages supporters to contact his campaign headquarters at (760) 942-9961.  The problem is that the "942" prefix is in Encinitas - which is outside the 5th Supervisorial District.

Here’s a map of the district along with a listing of cities and zip codes in the district.

  1. This is stupid. I’ve lived in Carlsbad my whole life and always had an Encinitas prefix on my land lines.

In and around the La Costa area, most long-time carlsbad residents (I don’t know about newer homes) have had 944, 943, 942, etc.. prefixes.

  2. I should add — this is stupid because the only “evidence” we have to go on is a phone number. If you actually had an address outside the district, well hey that would be something!

    What more do you need?

  4. that’s a problem, there is not address. Does Horn have a campaign office or not?

    Comment by Drained — April 26, 2006 @ 9:28 pm

  5. Maybe the office is his Carlsbad home where Joan Wonsley lives (and Bill Horn does not live). Could that be a 942 number?

    Comment by Drained — April 26, 2006 @ 9:30 pm

  6. This is funny. Bill Horn is hiding his office location just like he is hiding everything else. He probaby doesn’t want the location out because he’s hiding from the media until after the election.

  7. I’m still waiting for legitimate issues to pop up in this race. What has Thompson done or said that any of use should care about?

    Comment by How Lame — April 27, 2006 @ 4:15 pm

  8. Thompson is out talking about the issues that North County Voters care about. Traffic, Crime, Development, Illegal Immigration, Constituent Service, Adaquate Water etc. I don’t think this blog is a forum to talk about issues though. This is a gossip site, and that’s why we like it. If you want to hear about Thompson on the issues, go to his website.

  9. Has anyone seen Horn yesterday handing out taxpayer dollars to hirepatriots.com? Horn said it is an alternative to hiring illegals. I know for a fact that Horn not only has illegals working for him, but has some living on his property. What a hypocrite.

    Comment by North County Man — April 28, 2006 @ 4:21 pm

  10. I heard he lives in a trailor on his property with his illegals because his wife kicked him out of the house.

  11. It would be interesting to see if this is true. Horn is in deep trouble lately. I guess many of us who thought he was so conservative are questioning so many things with the Supervisor.

  12. Who knew a county supervisor race could be so interesting.

  13. All of you that have your doubts about Supervisor Horn, just check out Gibbs Ranch Road in Ranchita. That’s what I’m talking about!!!

    Comment by HornSupporter — May 1, 2006 @ 10:23 pm

  14. Who on earth will ever go to Ranchita? What is on the road “HornSupporter”? I must say you are the first admitted Horn supporter I have ever heard of.

    Comment by John — May 2, 2006 @ 4:07 pm

  15. The first Horn Supporter I’ve heard of as well.

    Comment by SuperDuper — May 3, 2006 @ 12:13 am

  16. By the way, I just checked the number and it is an Encinitas Number.

    Comment by SuperDuper — May 3, 2006 @ 12:15 am

  17. Sigh. The prefix makes it an Encinitas number, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s physically located in Encinitas. Again, slowly this time to make it as clear as possible:

MANY HOMES IN LA COSTA HAVE ENCINITAS-PREFIXED PHONE NUMBERS. LA COSTA IS IN CARLSBAD.

    Comment by Nik — May 3, 2006 @ 3:37 pm

  18. Nik, give it up. Horn doesn’t even have a headquarters. He is probably living in a Hotel somewhere waiting for the election to end so he can shack up with Wonsley again. Why would he have a headquarters in Carlsbad anyway? I thought he lived in Valley Center, right? On the “ranch.” You are telling me that he drives from Valley Center to Carlsbad everyday? Come on!

    Comment by John — May 3, 2006 @ 4:11 pm

  19. Is 942-9961 a Hotel number? Has someone checked? Maybe it’s a cell phone. “Hi, this is the Horn Campaign…I’m on the road right now…let me call you when I’m back at the hotel, I mean ‘office’.”

    Comment by John — May 3, 2006 @ 4:14 pm

  20. I’m new to this conversation. So let me get this straight. La Costa has 942 numbers and is within the district?

But it seems the phone number doesn’t really matter because he doesn’t really have a campaign office. He could have a 213 area code. With VoiP and cell phones, numbers don’t mean a lot now days. I guess the real questions are - does Bill Horn have a headquarters and where is it located? If he can’t provide a physical address - Is Bill Horn lying on his website that he has a campaign headquarters?

    Comment by SuperDuper — May 3, 2006 @ 6:09 pm

  21. I just looked at Horn’s website. His mailing address is a PO Box in San Diego! What a joke. He doesn’t even have a mailing address in the district either. So…he’s living in a hotel in SAN DIEGO and is using a cell phone with an ENCINITAS number! Now it all makes perfect since! Is the cell phone and hotel paid for by the County?

I GOT IT!…His headquarters is on the “Duke-Stir” parked at Lake Hodges. I wonder if he gets good cell phone reception there.

  22. Chris Brown is the ring leader for the “Friends of Horn” group, that number is probably his, or his business line at his house…Chris used to work for Bill, then the County, now for one of the housing projects in Horn’s district…I also understand that before Chris was given the privilege of working for the “friends” he was looking for someone to snap pictures of Bill & Joan in a compromising situation….guess he got some of them for now he is writing Bills’ speeches and press releases…….hmmnn…Housing project …Supervisor…photos of him and Joan, seems like all the ingredients to a soap opera to me…and a housing project running the Supervisors office

  24. Wasn’t Chris Brown fired? What’s his beef with Horn?

  25. Just going to be honest… North County Man is with the Thompson campaign. He has to be… Wait a second, is this Bruce Thompson???

That honestly would not suprise me at all.

To John and SuperDuper, if you’ve never heard of a Horn supporter, who keeps electing him?

This blog usually makes sense to me, except when it comes to the readers of this site’s bizarre dislike of Horn. Did he not give you a good deal on an apartment rental or something? Has there ever been a discussion of what he has done for N.C. except what you don’t like?

Oh I get it, there must be nothing to like…

And have you EVER seen Thompson’s track record in his previous political positions? Do you even know if he’s someone who will back up 5% of what he says he will do? Look at his record…

The readers of this forum do not seem like informed voters, but simply scorned and acrimonious ones.

    Comment by Rancho Bernardo Man — May 11, 2006 @ 1:13 am

  26. Wow, a personal attack on me I can handle…but to attack the whole blog? If you can’t handle the heat…

Listen “Rancho Bernardo Man”…or should I say “Bill Horn”…I am not Bruce Thompson, and I am not fromt he Thompson Campaign. I am a voter in Horn’s District who is outraged by his bone-headed decisions.

We have been swamped with development after development with NO real traffic relief. He points the finger…it’s not my fault it’s the State and Federal Governments who build highways. Yeah, well if they aren’t building highways, don’t build houses dummy.

As for Thompson..I’ve seen his record and it’s 100% Pure Conservative. He is the kind of guy Unions would hate to see elected…Bill Horn is on the other hand is the Union’s hand picked poster boy.

Why does Horn get re-elected?…Patsy Fritz…need I say more. Both times she ran against him he barely squeeked by.

    Comment by North County Man — May 12, 2006 @ 2:21 am

  27. Hey there Dave Reynolds, oh I mean North County Man. Supervisor won in the primary in the last election hands down. Your guy Thompson had his chance while he was in the STATE legislature to do something about STATE highways. He brought NO funding for transportation to North County. Couldn’t even get a highway named after Ron Packard. He had his chance and blew it. Tell me Dave, what jurisdiction does the County have over State highways? Better do your homework. Can’t lay it on the County And your man Issa tried to cut funding to North County for transportation. Thompson’s relationship with other elected is a real plus alright. They are both trying to screw North San Diego County. Makes sense when we know that Thompson is a Riverside legilature looking for a place to land after his gig is up with the Small Business Associaton.

  28. In case anyone was wondering about the original post on this thread…

I just got a Horn mailer today that listed his campaign headquarters in Encinitas…OUTSIDE THE DISTRICT!

So there you go, and no…I my name is not Dave, I have no idea who you are talking about Bill Horn.

    Comment by North County Man — May 15, 2006 @ 6:08 pm

  29. I have live in Ranchita and have seen 7 Bruce Thompson signs for a month. There aren’t any Horn signs that I have seen. Horn does nothing for the small communities. How you treat the small guy shows what you are really made of.

    Comment by Bruce — May 20, 2006 @ 2:14 am

  30. The most capable English speakers do not end sentences in a preposition. I just had to let you know that. You also probably say “good” when asked how you are doing. Remember, good is an adjective, “well” is an adverb. If you are doing something, it’s well not good. Super.
