Brian has a tough road to walk...due to factors beyond his control.

1) Follow a disgraced Congressman (R)
2) The Adminstrations rudderless direction, sagging popularity and abandonment of the GOP base
3) Congress, especially the Senate, rowing in the same boat as the mi casa su casa Democrats on immigration and the border
4) Gas Prices and lack of any corp. oversight
5) The continuing Great/not news from Iraq
6) Budget crisis (he has a record here that is good)

That is an upstream course, but if he can communicate an independent message that speaks to the voters on these issues...he'll prevail. He came to office (the first time) as a Reagan republican. Not a blueblood Republican.
As he said on Rick Roberts show (pre-election) sometimes friends have to save other Republicans from doing the wrong thing.

Enough about Reagan's 11th commandment. Bilbray invoked it when he was leading, then smeared Roach when he was behind. Even Reagan sharply criticized Ford in the 1976 primary. It seems the 11th commandment is only an innoculator for the leader, and broken by everyone who wants to be in the lead.

That's true! They overrated Busby and Roach in their pre 4/11 poll...maybe Hauf can pay them to overrate him!

,,,and the profiteers who have stroked Hauf's ego while gripping his wallet. In listening to Hauf yesterday, it appears his strategy boils down to telling us to vote FOR Bilbray, before we vote AGAINST him!

Will Brian retain Cheney's endorsement???? Is that a seroius question? Nobody and I mean NOBODY in the Rep. party takes Hauf seriously...except for Hauf, and the loonies over at the Flash Report.

Can Brian turn the increased donation limit into ads for the runoff, rather than the primary? Is Hauf going to go with, "Vote Bilbray in the Runoff, Hauf in the Primary" ads? Will increased turnout bother to vote in the runoff portion? Will Brian maintain Cheney's endorsement (et al)?
